"A Word for Word Meaning of the Quran" by Dr. Muhammad
Mohar Ali.
This
has been completed and the whole work is available in 3 volumes
from JIMAS.
1.
It places one or a couple of words of an ayah in one line
of a column and gives their meanings side by side in another
column, keeping the flow of the language unimpaired and
the meaning of the ayah as a whole clear. This method enables
the reader to identify which English words represent the
meanings of which Arabic words in the Arabic text.
2.
The meanings of almost all important words in the text are
given side by side in another column, together with grammatical
notes and cross references, and also comments and explanatory
notes wherever necessary. The aim has been to enable a non-Arab
reader to understand the Quran as well as to improve his
knowledge of Arabic, particularly Quaranic Arabic.
