Some of the participants

JIMAS organises general social get-togethers to create an open and uninhibited space for people to air opinions or vent any feelings about any issue that may concern us, particularly for the young. The first such event in 2009 was held on the 13th of January at the University Campus Suffolk at the Waterfront building. The panel consisted of Professor Dave Muller (Principal of Suffolk New College), Professor Bob Anderson (Pro-Vice-Chancellor & Chief Executive of University Campus Suffolk), Cllr Rosemary Clarke (Suffolk County Council), Cllr Robin Vickery (Ipswich Borough Council), The Right Reverend Clive Young (Bishop CofE), and Shaikh Manwar Ali (Chief Executive of JIMAS).

Anyone and everyone are warmly welcome in true community spirit. Many attend with friends and family to enjoy a good meal with Muslims, people of other faiths or no faith in Ipswich, in order to build friendship and understanding as a single community, for peace, security, prosperity, and success for all.
Some of the audience
Our aim is to break down barriers and create understanding
through friendship and discussion
so that together we can develop the community in Suffolk
on a strong footing of trust and warmth for all.
Some of the audience
These mingle events are designed to allow people, mainly in the college and then in the wider community to mix freely, make frineds and talk about anything of choice without any fear or embarrassment.
