Sheikh Abu Muntasir,

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.

I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to bless your work and give success to the JIMAS conference and the other efforts for Islam. I have been negotiating my situation with the Muslims here in Cape Town and trying to make a place to come to the conference. A major event has arisen in August on the same weekend and I am one of the key participants. The V&A waterfront has given our organization, Discover Islam and the MSA a major pavillion in a key place in the Cape Town waterfront. It will be ours for 3 days on that weekend. Thousands of people from all over the world visit the waterfront and in the present climate, it is a chance for us to affect public opinion. The mayor of the city and the Premier of the Province will be among the dignitaries who will launch the exhibition. A number of leading Islamic spekaers are being invited to address a number of important issues. We are planning to give out thousands of Discover Islam readers and have a series of lectures and public dialogues. The board of directors of my centre and the Muslims students have made a special appeal to me as the original program was last year. If I do not attend, it could be very negative to everything that I am doing here. We are trying to gain momentum and in these negative times we rarely get that chance. So please accept my apologies again. I cannot make the conference and I sincerely ask you and the brothers to pardon my absence. My presence here will be crucial for the Dawah movement.

I really enjoyed myself that first time I attended the conference but Allah knows best what we have to do. May Allah give you patience and contentment in all your struggles. I am your Brother in Islam, Abdullah Hakim Quick
