JIMAS bought St Michael’s Church in 2011 with the intention of redeveloping it into a community centre to serve everyone within the local area. Unfortunately the church was subject to an arson attack a few months’ later, and as the property was uninsured, JIMAS had to start again from scratch.
Overwhelmed by the response and outpouring of goodwill following the devastating blaze, JIMAS set its sights on a rebuilding programme, and in 2014 there was a major clean-up of the site, seeing volunteers from all sections of the community lend their support, which led to the first open day.
