UK field in winter
Can you afford to remain complacent
and unthinkingly send all your help abroad
when there are unfulfilled needs
of your neighbours here? Think!

IF YOU ARE IN THE UK AND YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR ZAKAH
We treat all applications for Zakah in the strictest confidence

Information supplied by the applicant will only be seen by the JIMAS trustees. Otherwise we will only reveal the applicant's papers to the Auditors or the Charity Commission or the Law Agencies should they ever want to see them, but to no one else.

GENERAL

  1. A formal letter applying for funds that is signed by hand. Emails or electronically printed documents are not acceptable. This letter does not have to be in any particular format and can be hand-written but it should be addressed to JIMAS and not to any individual in the Charity.
  2. A letter of recommendation or a character reference from a respectable member of society. This can be anyone who is well-known in the local community or a personal friend. In the latter case we need verifiable proof of identity.
  3. Proof of residence at the address, e.g., a utility bill, driving license, bank statement etc., that shows that the person indeed lives at the stated address.
  4. A description of expenses and financial situation. This is needed to evaluate how much to allocate in relation to other applicants and the priority with which to treat the application.
  5. Bank statements over a period of time that shows the monetary situation and anything else that makes this clear e.g., creditors notices, council letters, legal summon. These can be photocopies.

STUDENTS

  1. A formal letter applying for funds that is signed by hand. Emails or electronically printed documents are not acceptable. This letter does not have to be in any particular format and can be hand-written but it should be addressed to JIMAS and not to any individual in the Charity.
  2. If you are an overseas student then you need to send us a photocopy of your passport showing the VISA to stay in the UK and study.
  3. Your bank statement over a period of time that shows your financial situation with respect to your ability to pay for your expenses.
  4. A description of your expenses.
  5. A letter of recommendation from your professor or tutor who should be prepared to answer any queries we may have about you in future.
  6. A letter from the admissions tutor telling us that you are indeed enrolled on the course.
  7. Proof of fees required.
  1. Requests for Zakah will not be considered unless a request is submitted in the proper manner and all necessary paperwork is in hand.
  2. It may be the case that some applicants for Zakah are supported with an amount of non-repayable Zakah money and some in the form of an interest free loan. This will be clarified with the applicant once it is known that JIMAS is able to offer any help.
  3. An application for Zakah does not automatically qualify for anything and is not guaranteed any amount. All applications are considered in light of available finances and currrent applicants.
  4. It is possible for the same applicant to request for funds again but not in the same year.
