Do not let a single penny go to waste
through overheads, glossy promotions and
unnecessary payment of officials.
Appeals
may seem tiresome and appeals may be undignified, but here
goes for the sake of Allah. We know we must answer Allah for
deliberately misbehaving in our individual duties in Islam
and ignoring the need of Muslims at home who have a share
in our wealth as determined by the Almighty. Isn't now always
the best time to check our faith and conscience?
All
four Schools of Thought agree that Zakat
should NOT be generally distributed elsewhere if deserving
candidates are found within the country where
it is collected. Doing so is MAKRUH according to the four
madhabs.
Alms
are for the poor, and the needy, and those employed to administer
the (funds); for those whose hearts need to be reconciled;
for those in bondage, and in debt; in the cause of Allah;
and for the wayfarer: (thus is it) ordained by Allah, and
Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom. [Surah at-Tawbah(9):
Ayah 60]
Thus
the deserving candidates comes from the poor, the needy, workers
in Zakat administration, people whose hearts need to be reconciled
(mu'allafat quloobuhum), captives, debtors, in the cause of
Allah, and the wayfarers.
We
consider every application we receive and go out there to
determine Zakat recipients from:
a)
Reverts facing difficulties after accepting Islam often
coming into the Deen with huge financial debts
b)
Muslim asylum seekers and refugees facing a harsh life
of severe restrictions of work and varying measures of
hostility
c)
Muslims who are at the point of eviction or repossession
d)
Breadwinners who have lost their means of income
e)
Mothers who are in crushing debts
f)
Struggling single parent families
g)
People with end to end difficulties of homelessness
h)
Economic hardships of Muslim foreign students
i)
People whose hearts need to be reconciled who are almost
completely overlooked by all major relief and aid organizations
in the UK
Of
all the refugees and asylum seekers the majority is Muslims
and they constitute 80% of those known to the Suffolk Refugee
Support Forum (SRSF). We are in close contact with both the
Refugee Council and the SRSF.
a)
We collect and distribute Zakah with zero overheads
b) We are focused on those who deserve
Zakat in the UK strictly according to the Shariah
c) We are experienced, have a continuing long history of engagement
in da'wah, richly involved in British civic society and recognized
for our non-partisanship, honesty and even-handedness
d) We are audited and monitored. Giving Zakat to us is safe,
legal, and avoids all suspicions that arise in the political
climate of scrutiny, wastefulness, incompetence and Muslim's
sectarisnm and partialities.
